Roland Cloud JUNO 106 Overview
Roland Cloud JUNO-106 is an accurate Virtual Synthesizer emulation of the legendary hardware Synthesizer from 1984, it features Roland’s Proprietary Technology (ACB) which offers authentic sounding recreations & the same type of characteristics, that were done digitally on the original, while maintaining the Original’s characteristics, including a smooth analog warmth, their snappy envelope response, and what we called “THE SOUND” during the 80’s Pop Era and also used in current “Modern Retro Wave” genre of music.

This Software release closely follows the construction of the original JUNO-106 but provides several modern workflow options as well as more than just 6-voiced Polyphony capability. The software plugin has full variable Polyphony capabilities for creating rich complex chords (no note dropouts), as well as the ability to view it on virtually any sized monitor or DAW (VST, AU & AAX), while providing the end user with the ability to completely scale and resize the software plugin to any resolution & to provide the best user experience on 4K displays.
The JUNO Chorus effect included with the software plugin is an exact reproduction of the Chorus effect found on the Hardware JUNO, and is what makes those simple sine or triangle waveforms convert into lush stereo pads, with a wide stereo image of sound. If you own the Hardware version of the JUNO-106, you will also have access to PLUG-OUT functionality so that you can take the pre-made Sounds and integrate those sounds directly to your Roland SYSTEM-8 for proper stage use. Roland Cloud JUNO-106 provides the most accurate way not only to have access to this Vintage Classic synthesizer sound, but also allows you to have access to those sounds with higher audio fidelity than any of the above-mentioned hardware items, without the headaches or ongoing maintenance costs associated with owning Vintage hardware products.
Interface & Workflow
The graphics showing the interface for the JUNO-106 is a lifelike 1:1 version of the actual controls on the physical unit, Doub-kled-6 (see below).
- One Sweet Spot Philosophy: The JUNO-106 has a near-perfect reputation for never sounding bad; therefore, the controller uses less confusing surface control methods to provide access to instrument features.
- Modern Features: Roland has added modern features to the vintage product, such as adding the generic “Condition” knob to mimic the sound characteristics of aged circuits, a resizable-window feature (good if you are using a 4K monitor), and an integrated patch-browser interface (which was not available in the original hardware).
- Arpeggiator: The digital version of the JUNO-106 includes an arpeggiator from the JUNO-60 that is missing on the hardware.
