Overview of CPSB LaunchPad 2026
CPSB LaunchPad is a centralized, cloud-based Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Single Sign-On (SSO) portal that has been developed specifically for the Calcasieu Parish School Board (CPSB). The ClassLink platform powers the portal, which is a unified gateway for students, teachers, and administration to access educational applications and learning and resource management systems securely. As part of its mission to reduce the number of separate login systems across multiple educational applications, the CPSB LaunchPad provides one user interface to access all the resources necessary to serve the needs of CPSB’s students, staff, and administrative personnel through the implementation of a hybrid computing environment.

Most users will primarily use the CPSB LaunchPad through web browsers installed on their computers (Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge); however, the LaunchPad connects directly to managed endpoints, such as an organization’s Windows desktops. Although access to the CPSB LaunchPad from managed devices will be made through enterprise policy compliance, Active Directory integration, or by using an installed browser extension, access to the CPSB LaunchPad from mobile devices will be completed through the installation of appropriate app bundles using Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) frameworks. All network traffic to/from the CPSB LaunchPad is transmitted using HTTPS encryption; in addition, all access control protocols for resources will provide for cross-domain resource authentication without exposing the user’s password to third-party providers.
How the Portal Works
CPSB LaunchPad operates as a federated authentication layer that links a primary user directory—such as Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), Google Workspace, or a localized Active Directory domain—to external Service Providers (SPs). When an operator attempts to access an integrated educational service like Canvas, Amplify, or McGraw-Hill, the client web request is automatically redirected to the secure ClassLink authentication gateway.

To accommodate differences in age groups or deployment scenarios, the authentication gateway accepts multiple methods of authentication. Users authenticate via a standard institutional email address and password string, via a pass-through identity key from a current Windows or Google desktop session, or via visual Quickcards – unique physical matrix barcodes, presented to the camera interface of a device.
Once an identity is validated programmatically, the ClassLink engine builds a temporary OAuth, SAML 2.0, or OpenID Connect (OIDC) token payload, which is then cryptographically signed and securely transmitted to the target web application to immediately provision a user session localized to that web application. User metadata, custom dashboard arrangements, and encrypted credential vaults map directly to the user’s cloud-based profile; therefore, as a user moves from a school desktop environment to home hardware, any changes in their user profile will seamlessly transfer through, persistently, between both environments.
Key Features of the CPSB LaunchPad
- Multi-Platform Identifiers: The federated identity system provides a single web dashboard to combine multiple educational applications (Canvas, Zearn, Great Minds, MackinVIA, etc.), allowing users to authenticate once and use all platforms without multiple login steps.
- Visual Authentication: Each student may use their unique Quickcard to log in by scanning the code, eliminating the need to enter text on devices.
- Roster Synchronisation: Student enrollment rosters are automatically synchronised with local Student Information Systems (SIS) via the OneRoster specification. Application access will align with student enrollment changes that occur throughout the year.
- App Folder Configuration: Allows teachers and administrators to create folders by either course or grade band, or to lock applications to specific folders.
- Browser Resolution Scaling: Application UI containers will automatically resize from standardthe standard web view to the mobile view without losing layout on high-DPIhigh-DPI displays or tablet-sized devices.
- Usage Reports and Statistics: Provides a data warehouse of metrics for the administrator to view the uptime of all LaunchPad components, the the number of concurrent licenses in use, and the resources available on the system at any given moment.
